Select payers offer insurance credits for use on Tava Health. This article covers how to add a prior authorization code for insurance session credits and what to expect next.
If you're new to Tava Health
If you’ve never used Tava Health before and have a prior authorization code, follow these steps to get started:
- Go to care.tavahealth.com and create your account.
- During signup, enter your insurance details:
- Select your insurance provider (such as Cigna)
- Indicate “Yes” when asked if you have a prior authorization code.

Enter your authorization code, number of covered sessions, and optionally upload your authorization document for easier verification.
- Submit your information. Our team will verify your coverage and notify you if we are unable to verify your coverage.
- You may begin scheduling sessions while we verify your code. If we run into any issues, we’ll reach out to help.
If you already have a Tava account
If you’ve previously signed up and now want to add your prior authorization, follow these steps:
- Log in at care.tavahealth.com.
- Navigate to the Billing section
- Ensure you've added your insurance information.
- If your insurance offers session credits on Tava, there will be a banner on your account.
- Click “Add here.”
- Enter your authorization code and number of covered sessions.
- Upload your authentication letter or documentation.
- Submit your details. You'll see a new card labeled "Insurance Credits" in your Coverage and billing section.
What Happens After Submission?
- Our team will verify your authorization, including start date, expiration, and remaining sessions.
- You’ll see a “Pending Verification” status until confirmation is received.
- You may schedule a session before verification is complete.
- Once verified, your sessions will be automatically deducted from your insurance credits, up to the authorized number.
Important Notes
- You must have active insurance for coverage to apply.
- Any issues with verification will be communicated directly by our support team.
