Leaving a job can bring a lot of uncertainty. Your Tava Health benefit may not end the moment your employment does. This article covers how long your Tava Health sessions last after your employment ends, how to use your remaining benefit, and options for continuing care.
How long can I keep using my benefit?
For many employer-sponsored plans, you can continue using your remaining EAP benefit sessions until the last day of the month your employment ends. Some employers may set a different end date. You will receive an email when your benefits are ending soon.
Confirming your benefit end date
The easiest way to confirm the last day you can use your EAP benefit sessions is to check your email. You will receive an email when your benefits are ending soon with the exact last day to use them.
Sign in at care.tavahealth.com/login. On your homepage, you will see your total sessions used and the number of remaining sessions.
Using your remaining sessions
Make sure to book your next session before your benefit end date. During that session, you can talk with your provider about a plan for continuing care. Eligible dependents can also use their sessions through the same date.
You can continue care by:
- Using an eligible personal insurance plan. You can elect COBRA to continue your current insurance for 18+ months, or select another plan through the Affordable Care Act Marketplace.
- Paying for sessions directly (cash pay).
- Using your HSA, FSA, or HRA funds.
If you don't have a Tava Health account
You don't need to have started care before you leave. You may still be able to use your benefit, usually through the end of the month, though this varies by employer.
- Go to https://care.tavahealth.com/signup to create a Tava account.
- Enter your most recent employer name when asked. We'll check for your eligible benefit, and email you the last day you can book an EAP-covered session.
- Continue through intake to choose a provider and book an appointment before your benefit end date
If your access comes through insurance
If you use Tava Health through your insurance rather than an employer-sponsored benefit, you can continue seeing your provider for talk therapy and medication management for as long as your insurance coverage remains active.
