Understanding Your Transactions
You may see up to four different transaction types:
- Charges are amounts billed to your account for a scheduled appointment or service. Every appointment billed through Tava generates a charge, regardless of payment method.
- Payments are amounts collected from your payment method. Payment methods may include a credit/debit card, an HSA card, employer session credit or insurance session credit.
- Credits reflect the amount of a charge or payment that has been corrected or modified from the original amount.
- Refunds are amounts returned to your original payment method. Refunds can be issued for the full amount of a payment or as a partial refund for a portion of what you paid.
Click on each transactional for more detail, including the transaction date, payment status and coverage method.
Your total charges, total payments, and current balance are shown at the top of the page and reflects the running total across all transactions.
| Important: Sessions with no associated costs will not appear in your transaction history. If using insurance to cover your sessions, only your cost responsibility will show in the transaction history. Insurance-pay sessions with no associated costs will not be shown. |
FAQs
Why do I see two entries for one appointment? When Tava processes a payment for your appointment, two records are created: one for the charge (what you owe) and one for the payment (what was collected). This is expected and means your account is up to date.
What does a credit mean on my account? Credits are typically created alongside refunds. If you receive a refund for an appointment, you'll see both a refund record and a corresponding credit that updates your account balance.
I received a partial refund. Will I see that in my history? Yes. Tava supports partial refunds, so if only a portion of a payment was refunded, you'll see the exact amount reflected in your transaction history.
Why don't I see a recent appointment in my transaction history? If your session had no out-of-pocket costs, it will not be reflected in your transaction history. This may occur if your insurance covers the session in full, you have an employer or sponsor who pays for your sessions, or if your provider does not bill through Tava.
I think there's an error in my transaction history. What should I do? Please reach out to client-support@tavahealth.com and we'll look into it for you.
