What is a Superbill?
Superbills are comprehensive receipts provided by healthcare providers that you can use to file claims with your insurance company for reimbursement. If you cover your session costs using a credit card, HSA, FSA, or HRA account, you can try submitting an out-of-network claim to your insurance for reimbursement after your session.
What Information Does a Superbill Include?
A Superbill typically contains all the details your insurance carrier needs to process reimbursement for services rendered. The key information included in a Superbill is as follows:
- Date of Service: The specific date the healthcare service was provided.
- Service Description: A brief overview or description of the healthcare service.
- Diagnosis Code: A formal medical code that corresponds to the diagnosis or condition addressed during the service.
- Cost: The total cost of the service provided.
- Amount Paid: How much you already paid for the service.
- Healthcare Provider Information: Essential details such as the provider's name, address, and credentials.
